the direct line, argued on the line

This chart is the direct line and nothing else. Brothers and sisters are not drawn here: this archive records kin against a NAME rather than against a person, so the family on a name page may belong to several different people of that name. Where it is drawn it is read from the direct line, person by person.

What the archive knows

Born 19 August 1753, baptised on the 21st, the second recorded child of Giacomo de Franceschi and Pascasia. > «Die 21. Augusti 1753. Jaco[bus] Baptista filius legitimus Jacobi Defranceschi, et Pascasia eius legitima uxoris, amborum ex hac Parochia, nato die 19 currentis (de licentia mei infrascripti) baptizatus est, a R.do Michaele Dobranovich. Patrini fuere: Nicolao Rusof, et … uxor Caspari Defranceschi.» — carta 145. Read at full magnification, letter by letter. (doc.) He may be the man who married in 1772. The parish marriage register has «Giacobus filius Giacobi de Franceschi» marrying Nicolina Teserati on 10 June 1772; this child would have been eighteen. His father is «q. Jacobi» — already dead — by November 1771, which fits as well. But a forename and a plausible age is not an identification, and the register itself shows a second, older «Jacobus filius Jacobi Defranceschi» standing godfather in May 1754, so the forename was already doubled at the castle. Not merged. (inf.) See Giacomo de Franceschi M 1772 and Antonia de Franceschi (b. 1759).
