This chart is the direct line and nothing else. Brothers and sisters are not drawn here: this archive records kin against a NAME rather than against a person, so the family on a name page may belong to several different people of that name. Where it is drawn it is read from the direct line, person by person.

What the archive knows

The first Defranceschi child this archive has read out of the Svetvinčenat baptism register for the eighteenth century — and the record that finally gives a wife of the name a forename. > «Die 7 9bris [1759]. — carta 162. Born 5 November 1759, baptised on the 7th, to Giacomo de Franceschi and Paschasia — Pasqua — both of the parish. (doc.) Whose Giacomo he is, is open. A Jacobus Defranceschi stands godfather in the same register on 6 August 1758, and a Giacomo who died before November 1771 is known from the marriage register. They may be one man; nothing read so far distinguishes them. (inf.) See Giacomo de Franceschi d. Bef 1771. She is the youngest of four, not an only child. The same couple — Giacomo de Franceschi and Pascasia — appear as parents four times in this register: a child baptised 25 March 1750 whose forename sits in smeared ink and would not resolve; Giacomo Battista de Franceschi (b. 1753), born 19 August 1753; Giovanni de Franceschi (b. 1756), baptised 10 January 1756; and Antonia herself in November 1759. It is the first household of the name at Svetvinčenat this archive can follow across a decade. (doc.)
