The family

No family chart is drawn for this person, and that is a statement about the data rather than about them. This archive records kin against a name — the tree on a name page gathers everyone who shares it, so it may hold one person's dates beside another's wife. Rather than hand a reader a family that might not be this person's, the chart is drawn only where the relationship is recorded person by person, which today means the direct line.

What the archive knows

A daughter dead at forty-six, and her stone says who buried her. > F. MARFAN — MAFALDA ✱ 3. II. 1928 ✝ 17. XI. 1974 — the stone beside the obelisk in the Gračišće plot, read from David's photograph, 29 September 2026. (doc for the dates.) The stone is dedicated «GENITORI, FRATELLO E SORELLE POSERO» — set up by parents, brother and sisters, in Italian, in a cemetery where almost every other stone of those years is in Croatian. ⚠ Who her parents were is an inference this archive makes and does not assert. The dedication says her parents were alive in 1974. Virginija died in 1981 and Ivan Marfan in 1986 — both alive when Mafalda died — and the American chart gives Virginija four children, of whom Nazarijo is one. A daughter, a brother and sisters is exactly the shape of that family. But no document read here names Mafalda's parents, and the archive says so rather than closing the gap. (inf.) She was forty-six.
