- Antonio de Franceschi of Svetvinčenat (d. by 1766) — about 1690, Svetvinčenat
Named only once, and only as a dead man — but the naming settled an identification this archive could not otherwise make. 13 August 1766, among the witnesses to the marriage of Mattheus Razzan and Catharina Percovich: «ac Gaspare de Franceschi q.m Ant.o ex hoc Castro» — Gasparo de Franceschi, son of the late Antonio, of this castle. Film 005497886, frame 55, read at 2.5×. (doc for the patronymic.) So there was an Antonio de Franceschi of this castle who fathered a Gasparo and was dead by August 1766. What it did. Three Gasparos were in play when the 1762 witness was filed unassigned. Two fell on this one word: the twin of 1737 and Casparus of 1743 are both sons of Jacobo, named as such in their own baptisms. The surviving candidate is Gasparo × Maria. A patronymic did in a line what an argument about «M.ro» versus «D.no» could never have done. ⚠ He may already be on this site under another row. The parish holds several Antonios — an Antonio de Franceschi born 1704 among them — and this page does not claim to be a new man, only a man the record names. If a documented link is ever found, this row should be merged rather than kept. (The person is doc; the separation from every other Antonio is unproven.)** Born about 1690 on the arithmetic of a son active from the 1740s — estimated, and wide. ⚠ He is not Antonio de Franceschi, witness 1773, and the dates say so. That man witnesses six marriages at this castle between January and October 1773 and has a grown son, Vittorio. This one was already «q.m» — dead — on 13 August 1766. Two men of the name, seven years apart, and the register is explicit about which is which. Whether they are grandfather and grandson, or uncle and nephew, or unrelated, nothing here says.

This person has not been written up in an essay yet — most often read straight off a register page that no index anywhere contains. What is known is at the top, and the pages linked above are where the finding sits.
A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
