What the archive knows

Wife of a Jacobo de Franceschi, and mother of twins. 26 December 1737: «baptizavit duos infantulos geminos natos hodie mane a Jacobo de Franceschi, et Anzola ejus legitima uxore ambobus ex hac Parochia, quibus fuit positum nomen, uni […] alteri Antonij» — two boys born that morning, Gasparo and Antonio. Godparents Natale Zanzevich and Clara, widow of Bartolomeo Braccato. Film 005497885, images 115–117. (doc.) 1 March 1739 she is alive and named again — «Angela uxor Jacobi Defranceschi». Angela is Anzola, the Venetian and the Italian of one name. ⚠ She sits at the centre of this parish's hardest question. Within ten months of her twins the register gives «uxor Jacobi de Franceschi» two other names — «Agata» on 10 August 1738 and «Jacoba» on 7 September 1738 — and she is alive on both sides of them. For a while this archive read that as a clerk who could not be trusted about husbands. It now reads it as a parish holding more than one Jacobo, which is the likelier of the two and still not proved. See Jacobo de Franceschi of Svetvinčenat. Born about 1715 on the arithmetic of the twins — estimated.

No family is drawn for this name, and no record stands behind it. This archive has not placed it in a household and holds no indexed entry for it — the name reached this project through a chart, a narrative source or the family tree, and everything it does hold is below. The Register is where a record would appear if one turned up.
Identity here is by name, not by resolved individual. Where two people of one name appear in this archive they share this page, and it is for the reader to keep them apart — the surrounding text usually makes it obvious. Nothing here is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.

This person has not been written up in an essay yet — most often read straight off a register page that no index anywhere contains. What is known is at the top, and the pages linked above are where the finding sits.

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
