Magnified. Both godparents come from outside the parish — Dignano and Fasana, two of the Istrian towns this archive already tracks. (doc.) Middle child of Matteo Defranceschi of Svetvincenat and Francesca, between Helena (1742) and Irena (1752), and the entry that turns three scattered years into an eleven-year household. No family is drawn for this name. The archive holds 9 households under it, and none of their dates do not fit this person: Zuanne De Franceschi × Elena (1859) · Gregorius Defranceski × Maria Vojnić (1875) · Paulus Damiani × Lucia Defranceschi (1855) · Paschalis Zanghirella × Theresia Dominica De Franceschi (1856) · Johannes Defranceschi × Johanna Cleva (1859) · Joannes Sandalj × Lucia Defranceschi (1874) · Gregorii Defranceschi × Mariæ Vojnić (1875) · Josephus Ruman × Maria Defranceschi (1875) · Gio Batta De Franceschi × Maria (1809–1809). A shared forename is not a family.
The same name, written another way

This archive holds 5 other pages under what Say Your Name reconciles as the same given name in another language — a Latin register, a Venetian clerk, a Croatian village, a Hungarian office. They are not merged and none of them is claimed to be this person: a shared name is not a shared identity, and the archive will not join one to the other by machine. It is here so that a reader looking for a man the records called Josephus can see where they wrote him Josip.

Identity here is by name, not by resolved individual. Where two people of one name appear in this archive they share this page, and it is for the reader to keep them apart — the surrounding text usually makes it obvious. Nothing here is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.

This person has not been written up in an essay yet — most often read straight off a register page that no index anywhere contains. What is known is at the top, and the pages linked above are where the finding sits.

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
