The family

Virginia Defranceschi1873 – 1874
the direct line, argued on the line

One name in the record is not drawn above: fatherCarlo De Franceschi— the dates do not fit a record of 1858

This chart is the direct line and nothing else. Brothers and sisters are not drawn here: this archive records kin against a NAME rather than against a person, so the family on a name page may belong to several different people of that name. Where it is drawn it is read from the direct line, person by person.

What the archive knows

A tree row with two years, no place and no note — and now a register entry. > Gologorica deaths, image M01069291, page 123: «1874 Septemb. 12 · 6 · Virginia Defranceschi, agla, sepulta die 14. h. · 1 anni · Hydropisia» Died 12 September 1874, aged one, of dropsy, buried on the 14th — at Gologorica, house 6. The archive had her only from the family tree, with no place at all. (doc.) ⚠ And the house is the interesting part. House 6 is where Mathaea Defranceschi died in 1858 — and it was demonstrably the Deprato house in 1801, 1809 and 1817. A second Defranceschi dying there sixteen years after the first makes the «house changed hands» reading much the strongest. ⚠ She is «agla» — agricola. The Defranceschi of house 7 are «civis» and «possidens» in this same book. Two households of the name in one village, at different standings — which is a thing to hold in mind before treating «a Defranceschi» as one family.*
