What the archive knows

«Die 13 Junij, 1745. Antonia filia Victorij Defranceschi, et Dominica ejus legitima Uxoris amborum ex hac Parochia, nata die 12 currentis (de licentia mei infrascripti) baptizata fuit a R.do D.no Antonio Stancovich Canc.: Patrini fuerunt, Vincentius Bracovich, et Elena vidua defuncti Blasij Marsoni.» — born 12 June, baptised 13 June 1745. Magnified and read letter by letter. Her godmother is the widow of the man who stood for Pietro's daughter seven years earlier. Blasius Marsoni, smith, was godfather to Anna Euphemia di Pietro de Franceschi 1738 on 27 July 1738; by June 1745 he is dead and Elena is standing in his place. Two Defranceschi households, one family of smiths, seven years apart. (doc.) She was hidden by a piece of paper. Her entry is on page 125 of the volume, and on image 140 that page is covered by a loose slip — an Italian memorandum of the castle chancellor's own child, with the Captain of the Castle as godfather. Image 141 is the same opening photographed again with the slip lifted, and only there does this baptism exist. (See the method note on duplicate frames.) Film 005497885, images 140 and 141 — Births 1709–1764 of Svetvinčenat, read on the plate 23 September 2026. In no index anywhere.

No family is drawn for this name. The archive holds 1 household under it, and its dates do not fit this person: Gasparo De Franceschi × Antonia (1692–1706). A shared forename is not a family.
The same name, written another way

This archive holds 2 other pages under what Say Your Name reconciles as the same given name in another language — a Latin register, a Venetian clerk, a Croatian village, a Hungarian office. They are not merged and none of them is claimed to be this person: a shared name is not a shared identity, and the archive will not join one to the other by machine. It is here so that a reader looking for a man the records called Josephus can see where they wrote him Josip.

Identity here is by name, not by resolved individual. Where two people of one name appear in this archive they share this page, and it is for the reader to keep them apart — the surrounding text usually makes it obvious. Nothing here is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.

No prose mention yet

This person has not been written up in an essay yet — most often read straight off a register page that no index anywhere contains. What is known is at the top, and the pages linked above are where the finding sits.

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
