What the archive knows

«Die 27 8bris, 1747. Antonia filia legitima Jacobi Defranceschi, et Pascasia ejus legitima uxoris amborum ex hac Parochia, nata die 20 currentis, baptizata a me infrascripto, Patrini ad Sacrum Fontem fuerunt D.us Joannes Baptista Legiani, et D.us Faustinus, filius D.ni Francisci Xaverij Profumi.» — born 20 October, baptised 27 October 1747. Magnified and read letter by letter. Second child of Jacobo and Pascasia ([h107]), nineteen months after Martina Antonia di Jacobo Defranceschi 1746. ⚠ Nineteen months is too short, and the name is the same. Martina Antonia is baptised 31 March 1746; Antonia is baptised 27 October 1747. A parish does not give one living daughter's name to the next, so the likeliest reading by far is that the first child died in infancy and the name was given again — the same pattern this archive already suspects between the two Euphemias of Pietro's household in 1738 and 1739. No burial has been found for either girl; the death register for these years has not been read. (doc for both baptisms; the death of the elder is inf, on the naming alone.) Both godparents are styled D.us — one of them the son of the chancellor Francesco Saverio Profumo, whose family also stood for Casparus di Jacobo Defranceschi 1743 in 1743. The two Jacobo households both draw their godparents from the castle's officials, which is a reason this archive could not tell them apart for a day. Film 005497885, image 147 — Births 1709–1764 of Svetvinčenat, read on the plate 23 September 2026. In no index anywhere. --- 28 September 2026 — she marries, and she marries back into Carnia. — film 005497886, frame 82, read at 2.1×. (doc for the act.) She is thirty-one, born 20 October 1747, and her father is dead — «q.m Giac.mo», which agrees with her mother Pascasia being a widow in 1765. ⚠ And the groom is «da Cargna» — from Carnia. This archive argues that Svetvinčenat is the Carnian colony: the godparents round the 1660s baptisms are Carnian, and Kandler lists the Carnian families settled at Sanvincenti. A daughter of the castle marrying a man out of Carnia in 1779 is that argument's shape, a century on — and it is the second such marriage on this film, after Nicolò Corva «dà Cargna» in 1774. (The pattern is doc; that it means descent from Carnia is not, and is not claimed here.) A Defranceschi stood witness at her wedding — «Vitorio Defranceschi», who is either Vittorio the elder or Vittorio son of Antonio; the act does not say which. --- 29 September 2026 — she was dead within five years, and her husband's second wedding is how we know. 21 February 1784: «Gioan Battista Steffanutto nativo della Carnia, vedovo della q. Antonia nata de Franceschi contrasse li primi sponsali per verba de presenti con Angiola relitta q. Domenico Galluzzi» — film 005497886, frame 96, read at 2.2×. (doc.) So Antonia died between 7 January 1779 and 21 February 1784 — married at thirty-one, dead at thirty-six or younger. No year can be printed: the bracket is five years wide and Svetvinčenat's deaths before 1859 are on no film this archive can reach. It is the third time on this line that a woman's death is known only from her widower's next wedding — after Elena and Victoria Trecento. ⚠ And the act settles her identity past argument. «nata de Franceschi» — born a de Franceschi. When the 1779 wedding was read it gave «Ant.a figlia del q.m Giac.mo Defranceschi», and this archive matched her to the girl baptised 20 October 1747 on the patronymic alone. Five years on, the same register names her birth family outright. (doc.)* A Defranceschi stood at that second wedding too — «di Vittorio de Franceschi», among the witnesses, though the act gives no patronymic and this archive does not say which Vittorio. ⚠ One thread left open. The new bride is «Angiola relitta q. Domenico Galluzzi». This archive holds a Pascasia de Franceschi who remarried a Calluzzi — Antonia's own mother. Galluzzi and Calluzzi differ by one letter in one clerk's hand, and this page will not turn that into a kinship. Recorded so that whoever reads the baptisms tests both spellings. (open.)

No family is drawn for this name. The archive holds 1 household under it, and its dates do not fit this person: Gasparo De Franceschi × Antonia (1692–1706). A shared forename is not a family.
The same name, written another way

This archive holds 2 other pages under what Say Your Name reconciles as the same given name in another language — a Latin register, a Venetian clerk, a Croatian village, a Hungarian office. They are not merged and none of them is claimed to be this person: a shared name is not a shared identity, and the archive will not join one to the other by machine. It is here so that a reader looking for a man the records called Josephus can see where they wrote him Josip.

Antonia di Joannes Baptista Defranceschi (fl. 1743) · Antonia di Vittorio Defranceschi (1745)

Identity here is by name, not by resolved individual. Where two people of one name appear in this archive they share this page, and it is for the reader to keep them apart — the surrounding text usually makes it obvious. Nothing here is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
