What the archive knows

Named on his daughter's baptism of 27 July 1738 — «a Petro de Franceschi, et Jacoba ejus legitima uxore ambobus ex hac Parochia» — so he and his wife are both of the parish and neither is an incomer. His wife's name is the reason to be careful about this family. Six weeks later, on 7 September 1738, a godmother is entered as «Jacoba uxor Jacobi de Franceschi». Either there are two women called Jacoba married to two men of this surname, or the clerk wrote the wrong husband's forename — pulled, perhaps, by the bride's own name. This archive does not choose between them here. A man with a daughter in 1738 was born about 1710. (inf for the estimate; doc for the appearance.) Film 005497885, images 115–121 — Births 1709–1764 of Svetvinčenat, read on the plate 22 September 2026. In no index anywhere. 28 September 2026 — his wife now has a page of her own. Jacoba / Giacoma de Franceschi (fl. 1738–1743) — named with him in their daughter's baptism of 25 July 1738 and standing as «uxor Petri Defranceschi» at two later fonts. She is also the woman a clerk once handed to a Jacobo, which is how this parish's hardest knot began to come apart.

Where this comes from

4 of the 4 relationships drawn above are written in a register this archive has read with its own eyes.

9 households were rejected before this chart was drawn, because the dates do not fit a person of this name: Nadal De Franceschi × Anta (1734) · Domenico De Franceschi × Zacchera Cerlon (1817) · Domenico De Franceschi × Zacchera Cerlon (1819) · Pietro De Franceschi × Maddalena Francin (1819) · Domenico De Franceschi × Maria Dorliguzzo (1837) · Gio. Maria De Franceschi × Michiela Zambaletta (1776) · Giuseppe De Franceschi q.m Pietro × Lucia Tromba (1818) · Stefano De Franceschi × Maria Forlanichio (1860) · Domenico De Franceschi × Mattea Delcarro (1858).

Joined on a name alone. One household above could not be date-checked, because this archive holds no year for the person or for the household. Treat that link as a lead.

The same name, written another way

This archive holds 12 other pages under what Say Your Name reconciles as the same given name in another language — a Latin register, a Venetian clerk, a Croatian village, a Hungarian office. They are not merged and none of them is claimed to be this person: a shared name is not a shared identity, and the archive will not join one to the other by machine. It is here so that a reader looking for a man the records called Josephus can see where they wrote him Josip.

Identity here is by name, not by resolved individual. Where two people of one name appear in this archive they share this page, and it is for the reader to keep them apart — the surrounding text usually makes it obvious. Nothing here is new evidence; it is the same evidence, brought together.

A dossier is every mention of a name anywhere in this archive's data, gathered automatically and linked back to the page it appears on, with what the archive knows about the person set out at the top. Identity here is by NAME, not by resolved individual: where two people share a name they share a dossier, and the archive says so rather than guessing. Rebuilt from the roster, so every person the archive can name has a page — including the ones read straight off a register that no index anywhere contains.
