The Pages Themselves

A photograph of the register page for each reading in this archive that has one — the film, the image number, the entry — so a claim can be checked against the page and not only against this site's account of it.

The readings on this site are transcriptions, and a transcription is only as good as the person who made it. So for the finds that matter most, the page itself is kept here, reduced to a readable size, with where it is: the film, the image number, the position on the page, and a link to the viewer.

What a snapshot is, and is not. It is the page as the FamilySearch or Matricula viewer showed it on the day it was read, reduced to 800 px and kept for citation. It is not a transcription — the words are in the readings, the found people and the working notes — and it is not a licence: the originals belong to the parishes and archives that keep the books, and the filmed images to FamilySearch and the Hrvatski državni arhiv (Matricula images: Nadškofijski arhiv Ljubljana). The viewer links need a free sign-in. This archive began keeping snapshots on 11 October 2026; the readings made before then have none yet, and the work list says so.

The first letter of the father's name is not firm: it may be a Dume with the capital misread. Biha svidoki Tavia Kovacevich y Bartul Misich.» The wording matches the book's formula for a bride «Heer pokoi X» (daughter of the late X), though the word «Heer» is not written here. So: a DUME URODA from Šibenik, dead by June 1739, with a daughter Simona. The living Dume Uroda of the Karlobag baptisms (wife Eva, daughter Franica baptised December 1739) cannot be this man, so this is a second Dume Uroda — possibly the living Dume's father or another relation, not established — and the first sight of the family as Dalmatian. «Anno Dni 1728 die 14 Martii. Ego Frater Gregorius … de licentia Rmi D. D. Joannis Franc. Mirovich Archiepi … baptizavi infantem natum die 12 eiusdem [mensis] de legitimo matrimonio procreatum ex Dno Angelo Bachi Patricio, et Dna Oliva Filia Dni Gasparo Lizavola [?] conjugibus. Cui imposui nomen Caietanus Antonius ac Gregorius. Patrini fuerunt Dns Laurentius Cassius [?] Strenuus Miles nomine Illmi ac Excmi Domini Antonij Zane dignissimi Comitis hujus civitatis Pagi, et Dna Lucia …» The father is a PATRICIAN of the island town of Pag, and the child is named CAIETANUS — the rare given name of the Caetanus Bachi who married Anna Lukatelli at Karlobag on 4 February 1753, aged 24 if this is he; a daughter of his at Karlobag is called OLIVA, like the mother here. (The tree's Angelo, ahnentafel 428, comes only from a DIFFERENT Karlobag baptism of 1779 — a Caetanus Antonius, son of Angelo and Catharina — so he is not evidence for this link; see the 1779 snapshot.) NOT PROVED: the Karlobag entries never name his father or birthplace, and the tree's mother is «Catharina». Pag lies a short crossing from Karlobag. The godfather's title and the mother's father's surname are not firm. Read at about 3x.

«Die 10 Octobris 1694. Ego Joannes Bapta Chiochius alias Monticelli Vicarius … Baptizavi infantem natum sub die 6 Octobris 1694 in Parochia Divi Jacobi, cui impositus nomen Georgius ex Coniugibus Dominico et Lucietta Vroda; Patrini fuerunt Illmus Dominus Hieronymus Sopra[?] et Domina Franceschina uxor Excellmi Domini Vicenty de Dominis.» Read at about 4x; the surname is written «Vroda» in the text and in the margin. **A Georgius Vroda aged «60» died at Dolac on 17 August 1754 (image 254); a boy born 6 October 1694 would have been 59 years 10 months old that day.** The parents' names, Dominicus and Lucietta, match the elder Magister Dominicus Vrodda and his widow Lucia, aged about 77 at death on 21 June 1746, of the Dolac parish.

«Ego D. Stephanus Martinelli … Baptizavi in Baptisterio S. Jacobi ex licentia Rev. Ordinarij infantem natam sub die … cui impositum fuit nomen Michaela filia Magistri Lucae et Mariae Vrodal. Patrini fuerunt Thomas … Joannes Ingurovich et Vitus uxor Hieronimi Trapilei [?].» Read at about 4x. A Dolac household baptised at the cathedral baptistery with the Ordinary's leave: the Lucas Vrodi × Mariota of the Dolac books (Antonius 6 August 1692, Michael 13 July 1698) is the likely couple, but the Dolac baptism books carry no Michaela — so a Dolac family's children may be missing from the Dolac books.
